What people actually weigh against Squarespace

Design taste is personal. Publishing workflow and commerce are more concrete.

1. Building the pages

   Siterunway: add sections (welcome, hero, about, list, slideshow, blog posts, products, contact form, and others), edit copy inline, change type and color in the style engine. Squarespace has its own editor and template families. If you are fluent in Squarespace’s fluid engine, expect a learning curve here — not a clone.

2. Templates as a starting point

   Both products start from a designed layout. Siterunway’s published catalog is smaller. If you chose Squarespace mainly for a specific template family, look at Siterunway’s live /templates before you commit.

3. CMS and blogging

   Siterunway CMS is categories plus articles with rich text. Squarespace blogging and collections are a different model. We do not claim equivalent collection types or member areas.

4. Ecommerce

   Siterunway store: products with images and price, cart, checkout with Razorpay, Stripe, or cash on delivery. No inventory engine, shipping calculator, or subscriptions. Squarespace commerce may go further — compare SKUs, shipping, and taxes you need.

5. Publishing and domains

   Build and preview the full site for free forever. Custom domains are a paid-plan request (Settings → Domain) with team DNS setup. Squarespace sells and connects domains in its own checkout; we do not replicate that storefront.

Creatives and small studios — with a caveat

Squarespace is often chosen for taste. Only switch if the Siterunway catalog and canvas feel right when you preview free forever.

• Publishing workflow

  Edit on the canvas and the public site reflects the published theme. There is no separate “Squarespace scheduling/campaigns” product. What you save in the builder is what visitors get.
